Financial support for Alaska Native, American Indian, Hawaiian and Pacific Island students at the University of Alaska will end within a year.
This will impact over 20% of the student body, with 266 identifying as Hawaiian Native or Pacific Islander and 3,254 students as Alaska Native or American Indian out of a total of 19,629 students in the UA system as of Autumn last year.
The funding will be reallocated, continuing Trump’s commitment to eliminating programs that focus on diversity, equity and inclusion.
